Our client is seeking an experienced HD Mechanic / Field Service Technician to join their team in Maddington. This well-established organisation specialises in the design, installation, operation and maintenance of large-scale diesel and gas power generation systems supporting mining and resource projects across Australia.

This is a full-time opportunity suited to a skilled mechanic with strong diagnostic ability and experience working with heavy diesel engines, ideally Cummins. The role offers a 50/50 split between workshop and field service work, maintaining and repairing diesel generator equipment while supporting client sites when required.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on Cummins diesel generators
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults across heavy-duty generator equipment
  • Carry out repairs, overhauls and component replacements on diesel engines
  • Conduct troubleshooting and fault finding to minimise equipment downtime
  • Perform inspections and testing to ensure optimal generator performance
  • Complete maintenance and repair work both in the workshop and on client sites
  • Interpret service manuals, schematics and technical documentation
  • Maintain accurate service reports and maintenance records
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and technical team members
  • Maintain tools, equipment and workshop cleanliness
  • Assist with generator installation, commissioning or major servicing when required

What you’ll need:

  • Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or related field
  • Minimum 5 years post-trade experience in heavy diesel maintenance
  • Strong experience working with diesel engines, ideally Cummins
  • Experience in power generation, mining, construction or heavy equipment environments
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults independently
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Reliable with strong communication skills
  • Adaptable and capable of working in workshop and field service environments
