Linesman Trade Assistant

Our client is seeking a temporary full-time linesman trade assistant for an immediate start to support field inspection work across the northern Perth metropolitan area. This short-term contract is based north of the river and involves working closely with an experienced linesman to assist with inspections of street lighting and overhead electrical infrastructure in line with Western Power standards.

This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, is physically fit, and is comfortable travelling between work zones throughout the day. You’ll be part of a small team responsible for supporting inspection activities, preparing equipment, and ensuring work zones are set up safely while assisting with the day-to-day requirements of the linesman.

What you’ll be doing:

• Assisting the linesman with inspections of streetlights and overhead electrical infrastructure
• Preparing and transporting tools, equipment, and materials for field work
• Supporting the safe setup and pack-down of work zones at inspection sites
• Assisting with positioning ladders, inspection tools, and other equipment
• Helping identify visible defects or maintenance issues with street lighting assets
• Maintaining awareness of traffic and pedestrian safety around work zones
• Travelling between inspection locations across the northern metro area
• Assisting with the upkeep of company vehicles, tools, and equipment
• Supporting general field tasks to help the team meet daily inspection targets

What you’ll need:

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors for extended periods
• Ability to work safely in a field-based environment and follow instructions
• Strong work ethic and willingness to assist with hands-on tasks
• Comfortable travelling between work locations throughout the day
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a small team
• Strong awareness of safety procedures and workplace hazards
• First aid, traffic control, and LV rescue certificates
• Must hold a valid NAC card to work on the Western Power network
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
