Medical Secretary

Our client is seeking an experienced and compassionate Medical Secretary to support a busy team of fertility specialists based in their Claremont clinic. This is a temporary opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a patient-focused medical environment where professionalism, empathy, and organisation are key.

This is a vital front-line role where you will be supporting both doctors and patients, ensuring clinics run smoothly while providing warm, clear, and supportive communication to people going through their fertility journey.

What you’ll be doing

• Welcoming patients and being the first point of contact in the consulting rooms
• Managing appointments, phone calls, and clinic schedules
• Preparing consulting rooms and organising files for daily clinics
• Supporting doctors during consulting sessions
• Communicating with referring doctors and other healthcare providers
• Responding to patient enquiries by phone, email, and in person
• Maintaining and updating medical records accurately and confidentially
• Processing patient billing, receipting, and Medicare online claims
• Scanning, filing, and general administrative support
• Assisting the Patient and Clinic Services Manager and specialist team as needed

What you’ll need:

• At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in a busy medical or specialist practice
• Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Excellent communication skills and a calm, caring manner
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Confidence using practice management systems, with Genie experience highly regarded
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel
• Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
• A polished and professional presentation
• Flexibility to provide cover during leave or additional clinics
