Production / Workshop Manager – General Engineering – Brisbane

Our client is seeking an experienced Production / Workshop Manager – General Engineering who is willing to relocate to Brisbane, Australia, for long-term employment. This opportunity is suited to someone with a strong background in managing production operations within machining and steel fabrication workshops, particularly in general engineering and the mining industry.

We are particularly interested in candidates with hands-on experience in small to medium-sized custom engineering workshops who understand machining, welding and fabrication processes and can lead teams to deliver quality work on time.

What you’ll be doing:

• Managing daily production operations in a machining and steel fabrication workshop
• Planning, scheduling and coordinating multiple jobs to meet deadlines
• Allocating jobs and managing machinists, welders, fabricators and other workshop personnel
• Monitoring production schedules, productivity, quality control and on-time delivery
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and resolving technical production issues
• Monitoring labour hours, job costs and production efficiency
• Identifying opportunities to improve workshop processes and productivity
• Maintaining quality, safety and workmanship standards across workshop operations

What you’ll need:

• Proven experience managing production operations in a machining and steel fabrication workshop
• Strong practical understanding of CNC and conventional machining, welding and fabrication processes
• Experience planning, scheduling and coordinating multiple jobs simultaneously
• Experience managing machinists, welders, fabricators and other workshop personnel
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and resolve technical production issues
• Experience monitoring labour hours, job costs and production efficiency
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
• Hands-on experience in a small to medium-sized custom engineering workshop is strongly preferred
• At least 5 years of relevant industry experience
• Relevant qualifications and a strong understanding of general engineering workshop operations
• Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and workplace safety
• Sufficient English communication skills for an Australian workshop environment
• Must be willing to relocate to Brisbane, Australia, for long-term employment
