Technical Business Development Manager – Zambia

Key Requirements
Minimum 9 years Technical Sales Experience within one or more of the following industries:
– Structural Steel
– Steel Fabrication
– Construction
– Civil Engineering
– Industrial Manufacturing
– Mining
– Industrial Equipment
– Warehousing
– Heavy Engineering

Demonstrated history of winning and managing large B2B contracts.
Comfortable dealing with projects valued from approximately US$50,000 to several million dollars.
Experience calling on: Property Developers/ Construction Companies/ Consultants/ Architects/ Engineers/ Mining Companies/Agricultural Businesses/ Government Organizations/ Industrial Clients

The candidate does not need to be a Structural Engineer, however they must possess strong technical
understanding such as:
– Read engineering drawings
– Understand BOQs (Bills of Quantities)
– Understand structural steel terminology
– Discuss fabrication methods confidently
– Understand project costing
– Understand construction processes
– Explain technical solutions to clients
– Work closely with engineering and production teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing new business opportunities throughout Zambia and neighbouring countries.
  • Building relationships with developers, contractors, consultants, architects, engineers and mining companies.
  • Identifying and qualifying large project opportunities.
  • Managing complex sales cycles from initial engagement through to contract award.
  • Working closely with engineering teams to develop technical proposals and quotations.
  • Negotiating commercial agreements and closing high-value contracts.
  • Becoming a trusted advisor to clients and a key representative of the business

Zambia and Southern Africa.
