What you’ll be doing:
- Prepare summonses, pleadings, notices and other Magistrates’ Court documentation
- Prepare default judgment applications, warrants of execution and Section 65 processes
- Prepare instructions to sheriffs and correspondent attorneys
- Liaise with courts, sheriffs and correspondent attorneys to drive outstanding matters forward
- Monitor litigation stages, deadlines, returns and next actions
- Keep file and system records accurate and up to date.
- Manage a high volume of matters while ensuring follow-ups and deadlines are consistently actioned
- Identify delayed or stagnant matters and escalate where necessary
What we’re looking for:
- Matric is essential
- A law/legal qualification will be advantageous
- Minimum of 3 years’ recent experience in debt recovery litigation within a law firm or specialist credit law environment
- Practical Magistrates’ Court experience from summons through judgment and enforcement.
- Hands-on experience with summonses, default judgments, warrants of execution and Section 65 proceedings
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of legal matters and competing deadlines
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- LegalSuite experience will be advantageous
