Maintenance Assistant

Requirements

• Minimum certificate in Electrical and Mechanical studies.
• Previous experience in general maintenance, mechanical or electrical maintenance.
• Refrigeration experience will be advantageous, but training can be provided.
• Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance, fault-finding and repairs.
• Ability to assist technicians and maintenance personnel.
• General maintenance skills, including basic plumbing, painting and building repairs.
• Good practical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work weekends when required.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with routine maintenance, servicing and repairs of machinery and equipment.
• Support technicians, electricians and maintenance personnel with maintenance tasks.
• Identify and report equipment faults, damage and maintenance requirements.
• Assist with preventative maintenance schedules.
• Carry out basic electrical, mechanical and general maintenance tasks within the scope of training and experience.
• Assist with painting, plumbing, carpentry and general building maintenance.
• Help with the installation, assembly and cleaning of equipment.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas.
• Assist with the movement of maintenance materials, tools and spare parts.
• Complete maintenance records and job sheets.
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and report potential hazards.
