Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN), as required by local regulations.
- Current registration with the relevant Nursing Council.
- Primary Health Care (PHC) qualification (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Immunisation certification (preferred).
- 2–5 years of nursing experience.
- Experience in primary healthcare, retail pharmacy, or clinic environments is advantageous.
- Experience in chronic disease management and wellness programmes is preferred.
Knowledge
- Primary healthcare principles.
- Vaccination protocols.
- Chronic disease management.
- Infection prevention and control.
- Medication administration.
- Health promotion and patient education.
- Medical record documentation.
- Occupational health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services
- Conduct patient assessments and basic health screenings.
- Monitor and manage patients with chronic conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, asthma).
- Administer prescribed medications and injections.
- Provide wound care and dressings.
- Perform health checks including, Blood pressure, Blood glucose, Cholesterol, BMI and Peak flow.
- Administer vaccinations according to national guidelines.
- Perform pregnancy testing and other approved point-of-care tests.
- Identify patients requiring referral to a doctor or specialist.
Patient Education
- Educate patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Counsel patients on medication adherence.
- Promote wellness and preventative healthcare programmes.
- Provide smoking cessation and weight management advice.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Ensure informed consent is obtained where required.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Prepare clinic reports and statistics.
- Manage appointment schedules.
Compliance
- Comply with nursing ethical standards and professional regulations.
- Maintain current nursing registration and CPD requirements.
- Follow pharmacy policies and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
