We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Spray Painter / Plastic Welder to join our client’s team on a contract basis in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for refurbishing trucks by carrying out high-quality spray painting, plastic welding, and cosmetic repairs to ensure vehicles meet company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare truck panels and components for painting, including sanding, filling, masking, and priming.
- Perform high-quality spray painting and finishing on trucks and truck components.
- Carry out plastic welding and repairs on bumpers, fairings, and other plastic vehicle parts.
- Repair cosmetic damage and refurbish truck exteriors.
- Mix and match paint colours accurately.
- Inspect completed work to ensure a high-quality finish.
- Maintain spray-painting equipment and tools in good working condition.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience as a Spray Painter and Plastic Welder, preferably within the truck, commercial vehicle, automotive, or panel beating industry.
- Experience refurbishing trucks or commercial vehicles is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of spray-painting techniques, surface preparation, and finishing processes.
- Experience in plastic welding and repairing damaged plastic components.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification or certification will be advantageous.
- Valid driver’s licence is preferred.
