Our client is seeking a reliable, organised and experienced Warehouse Storeman to assist the Warehouse Manager with the effective control and coordination of warehouse activities within a busy port, stevedoring and cargo operations environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for goods receiving, stacking and dispatch, stock and warehouse administration, reporting and ensuring that all warehouse activities are completed accurately, safely and in accordance with established procedures.
The role will require flexibility to work both in the warehouse and on vessels when operationally required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Matric / Grade 12.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or progress towards a tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 1 year’s proven operational and/or administration experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ practical forklift operating experience.
  • Certified Forklift Operator.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience of:
    • Goods receiving
    • Stacking
    • Dispatch
    • Warehouse procedures
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Managers, Customers and operational personnel.
  • Ability to work shifts and overtime when required.
  • Strong supervisory and assertive skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Meticulous, accurate and conscientious approach to work.
  • Knowledge of Cargo Online would be advantageous.
  • Immediate availability is essential.
  • Must be residing in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) or surrounding areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Warehouse Manager with the day-to-day control and coordination of warehouse activities.
  • Ensure warehouse operations are conducted efficiently, accurately and safely.
  • Receive, inspect, record and correctly store incoming goods.
  • Coordinate and monitor the stacking and storage of cargo.
  • Prepare and coordinate the dispatch of goods in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Ensure goods are correctly identified, handled and accounted for throughout the warehouse process.
  • Assist with the control and movement of stock and cargo.
  • Prepare daily receipt and dispatch reports.
  • Ensure all warehouse administration and documentation is completed accurately and timeously.
  • Maintain accurate records of goods received, stored and dispatched.
  • Ensure that established best practices, procedures and operational guidelines are consistently followed.
  • Monitor the standard of work and ensure that tasks are completed correctly and to the required quality.
  • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently when required.
  • Assist with the loading, unloading and movement of cargo.
  • Communicate effectively with Managers, Customers, vessel personnel and other operational teams.
  • Assist with resolving operational issues and discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and security procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and an organised warehouse environment.
  • Be flexible and prepared to work within the warehouse and on vessels depending on operational requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably required by the Warehouse Manager.
