Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Crane Operator to operate crane/gantry equipment safely and efficiently during vessel loading and offloading operations.
The successful candidate must have proven practical crane operating experience, a strong understanding of safety procedures and the ability to communicate effectively with the operational team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Certified Crane Operator qualification.
  • Minimum 2 years’ practical crane operating experience.
  • Sound knowledge of occupational safety practices and operating procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via radio in:
    • IsiXhosa
    • English
    • Afrikaans
  • Comfortable and able to work at heights.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative and drive.
  • Willing and able to work shift work, operational hours and overtime when required.
  • Code 08 driver’s licence will be advantageous.
  • Must be residing in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) or surrounding areas.
  • Immediate availability is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate the crane/gantry safely, efficiently and effectively.
  • Load and offload vessels in accordance with established operational procedures.
  • Ensure all crane operations comply with client standards and safe operating procedures.
  • Conduct operations with a strong focus on safety, accuracy and productivity.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with vessel, wharf and operational personnel via radio.
  • Follow all instructions relating to vessel loading and offloading operations.
  • Monitor crane equipment and report any defects, faults or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, equipment and cargo during operations.
  • Comply with all site safety rules, procedures and operational requirements.
  • Work closely with the Foreman and other operational staff to ensure smooth and efficient vessel operations.
  • Maintain a professional and safety-conscious approach at all times.
  • Perform any additional operational duties relevant to the position as required.
