About the Role
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12.
- Trade-tested Millwright or Fitter with a strong electrical background.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a processing plant environment.
- Previous experience in a poultry slaughterhouse or abattoir, with an understanding of the working conditions and ability to perform effectively in this environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and maintenance skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance on plant machinery.
- Maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, valves, mills, steam cookers, electrical starters and variable-speed drives.
- Conduct planned and preventative maintenance to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
- Identify equipment faults and implement corrective action.
- Follow safety procedures, risk assessments and Lockout/Tagout requirements.
- Assist with maintenance planning and contractor coordination.
